I recently discovered MailChimp’s Comment Opt-In Plugin and love using it on my own blog! This WordPress plugin lets you add a checkbox near the comment form on a blog post page that lets your readers opt-in to your newsletter or RSS feed campaign in a very easy and convenient way. No need for design, it’s just a matter of writing a good call-to-action to fit your branding.
Placement
If you already have your newsletter form in your website’s footer or sidebar, then reserving this opt-in plugin for your RSS feed makes sense. You don’t want too many forms and options cluttering up your website and this plugin makes building your list efficient and discrete. And if you only have a newsletter, then it’s a great way to reinforce signups in addition to the efforts your opt-in form.
Plugin Info
You can view the plugin page here or search for it from within your Plugins section in your WordPress dashboard.
Armed Forces Day is this Saturday: May 19, 2012 and this year’s slogan is “Keeping America Strong and Secure: United in Purpose, Steadfast in Service”.
To show your suport for our service members, I’ve create this wallpaper suite for your iPhone that says “America Supports You”. I love the rustic and regal feel of the photo and thought I’d go a little gender neutral this week so the men can enjoy this wallpaper as well.
I know I’ll be proudly sporting this message on my iPhone all weekend long in support of my husband. Who in your circle of family and friends would you like to give respect in honor of their hard work and sacrifice?
A Little History Lesson
President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country.
On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days.
The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense.
Another Wednesday wallpaper suite! This time I made something you can add to your mother’s devices as a sweet surprise for when she checks her email on her phone or computer. Like an e-Card for your desktop!
I know I will be have to be super sneaky to get this message on my mother’s phone, being 2,000 miles apart.
I know there have been times where I just stop what I’m doing to take a break from the daily insanity and get *two* good hugs from my Parson Russell Terriers. (Sometimes, we’ll even curl up together in a recliner, wrapped up in a blanket, and watch a single TV show to de-stress.)
As much as I love April for the welcoming of warm Summer weather, I still want to hold on to my jackets. Something about being all bundled up soothes me. So here’s a tweed-inspired April 2012 calendar wallpaper for your desktops and mobile devices!
p.s. Did you now yesterday was National Tweed Day celebrating its origin in Scotland?
